Belfry Man to Spend 20 Years in Prison Due to DUI
Shawn Edward Christman, 31 years old, pleaded guilty during his arraignment in Carbon County District Court to vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for vehicular assault and 20 years for vehicular homicide.
Christman had previously admitted he was intoxicated when he drove his vehicle and killed the passenger in his car in a collision. According to police, Christman didn’t attempt to break before the collision and appeared to be noticeably intoxicated during the initial interrogation.
In addition, he was also ordered to pay a hefty fine of $2,000 as well as restitution for the victim’s medical bills.
